Rushmere Alpacas

Rushmere alpacas can now offer a number of stud males and we can accept drive by matings, i.e. you bring your female to us and 'mate while you wait'. We are also happy to lease you a male for a season which can avoid the problem for some small breeders that over time all the alpacas are related and the 'home' stud can no longer be used. Do contact us via the contact page if you are interested in coming to meet our boys, or telephone Jo on 07970 757219. Prices on application.

Our most recent aquisition is a part share in Zarzar Rizzardo, a champion black stud.

We are particularly fond of grey alpacas and in 2009 we purchased Comanche from Bozedown Alpacas. Son of two greys, Bozedown's 'The Chief' and Chelsea of Bozedown,  Comanche has superb conformation, fleece and a very gentle character. He has won many prizes and has only ever been beaten by Alpaca Stud's Nyetimber.

Isadore, another blue grey, has a larger frame and denser although coarser fleece than Comanche, so provides a useful alternative. He has been shown to pass on his grey genes, even when mated with solid colours.

Our dark fawn stud male Horatio is also from Imagine. He is half Accoya and has a superb presence with very dense fleece. His first cria at Rushmere was born in 2011 -a lovely light brown male, Eros.

We also have a young male who who has had his first year working in 2011. We bought Wessex Jay just before the break up of the Wessex partnership and he's a beautiful white alpaca with a very fine dense fleece which has earned him in number of placings in shows including a first at the 2010 SWAG spring show. He also has a very sweet character - although this is not judged in shows, it does result in alpacas which are much easier to handle. His grandfather is the famous 'Parrumbete Highlander' an exceptional alpaca in Australia and his father is multiple prize winner Wessex Julius.
