Darius was born in July 2010, the son of Alborada Claudia, our prize winning grey female and Bozedown The Chief. He had quite an interesting start as only 1 leg appeared. Thankfully Jo had attended several lectures on birthing alpacas which explained what could go wrong so she pushed him back into his Mum and armed with elbow length plastic gloves and some obstetric lubricant she set about looking for the other leg inside. The vet arrived to lend a hand and Darius was delivered without any further problems.
His early fleece was dark rose grey but the newer fleece is blue grey so that he almost appeared purple at first. After his first sheering it was clear he was a true blue grey. He's growing very fast and has a dense fleece with good crimp so we have high hopes for him as a stud. Like his mother he is a little timid but quite used to us and easy to handle.
