Calpurnia sitting on the day of her birth Pamella and Cal

Calpurnia was the largest of the cria born in 2009 and has continued to grow apace so that she's now full size. She's a beautiful bay black and has a superb fleece with very fine but dense fibre and good crimp. She's easy to handle and is halter trained. She enjoys going for walks- particularly as this often offers an opportunity to grab some new leaves - it has to be said she does like her food and is always first to the food bowls in the morning - in fact she's a real glutton. She'll eat anything but loves carrots and apples just like her Mum. She's  got a strong character and holds her own with the older alpacas.

This year we mated her for the first time to Alpaca Stud's Nyetimber. As a grey, it will be intersting to see what she produces, but with Nyetimber's quality we're hopeful for something good.
