Rushmere Alpacas

Mike Hewitt came today and ultrasound checked the remaining girls. All but treacle came out positive. The interesting thing is that she was the one we preicted was not pregnant based on the arseyness assessment. We've noticed that some alpacas get much more arsey when they're pregnant. Flower has defintely returned to her former stroppy self. Jade has become much more flighty and even sweet natured Brunhilda is a bit more temperamental but Treacle is calmer than she has ever been. I'm not sure Mike was totally convinced but he was impressed at how well we knew our alpacas.

he also treated pamellas boil and checked Camilla's eye. Pamella's boil had collected more puss and he carefully lanced it and cleaned it out. Pamella was not impressed, although she did object a couple of times. Mike suggested the 'ear twitch'. Apparently holding the ears releases endorphines, a natural acupuncture point. It did seem to work and she was calmer.

Camilla's eye is improving well which was good news. Hopefully they'll both be fine by Sunday when we leave for 2 weeks away - part work and part holiday for me.
