Well, I've experienced my first auction and it was certainly adrenaline inducing. We arrived an hour before bidding was due to begin and duly signed in, which was very easy. We then went through to look at the alpacas. They were in 3 large pens under cover with plenty of straw, males, maiden females and pregant females. Everyone was just looking at them but we asked if we could go in and check them and the staff said that was fine. We went in and stared loking at the fleece, their mouths (check they have a correctly formed mouth) and under their tails (check all looks OK there) Whilst we were checking a photgrapher asked if he could take a photo of us checking them for Farmers Weekly - fame at last!
An hour later and we were the proud posessors of 3 new alpacas, Jade, Flower and Treacle, white, mid brown and black.
