We gave the alpacas their monthly dose of vitamin D. It comes in apaste in a tube and you squirt it in the side of their mouths. Most of them get quite used to it as it tastes, so we're told, quite nice to them.
We kept a careful eye on Ceasar as his mum has gone and he was a bit pathetic. He ate quite happily but when a van drove down our lane we went running over to the fence and then hummed and wondered around a bit forlornly. Neil called home at lunchtime and we went back to check him. He was munching grass quite happily but when we came again he wandered around on his own humming. I'm sure he'll be fine in a few days and it's much easier for him staying put and Cass going, but we do feel a bit sad for him.
Liz phoned and talked about stud males and pet males. She's going to try and put a package together for 'lawnmowing'. She was very supportive of us getting the extra land and said she knew sevral people who hadn't taken the chance when it came and regretted it. She should be mailing out the details of 2010 stud prices shortly.
