Rushmere Alpacas

The paddock continues to get wetter and wetter and the puddles are joining up into quite a pond so we decided the time had come to call on the kind offer a neighbour had made earlier and ask if we could move the alpacas into his field. With no hesitation he agreed and we checked out the hedhes to make sure there were no holes.

In fact the field was perfect with plenty of good grass and dry areas so we duly spent a couple of hours loading the girls, hay bars, buckets and fence panels in to the trailer and it didn't take long before our whole herd was celebrating being back all together with some new tasy food. The youngsters (and some of the not so young) sprinted around the field in great high spirits and seemed very happy with their new home. There are several locatiosn where overhanging branches will offer good shelter and it's great from our point of view as we can just see the field from our house and it's only a couple of minutes walk to the gate.

Neil also went off on a search for sheep nuts. The snow had seen several local farmers buying in extra and our normal stockist Dennes had run out. Thanksfully we found another farm shop near us had plenty so we 're all stocked up.
